Saint Bernard is a very large working dog. He can weigh up to 260 pounds and can reach a height of thirty-five inches at the withers. Saint Bernard was originally bred as a rescue dog. The hospice of Saint-Bernard raised these dogs to help people stuck in the snow on the Italian-Swiss border.
